Ethereum validators have seen significant growth over the past year, underscoring the continued institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies. According to a research report shared with Cointelegraph by Flipside Crypto, the number of Ethereum validators increased by more than 30% in the past year, surpassing one million for the first time in June 2024.

This increase is attributed to developments in the restaking and liquid staking sectors, which have increased institutional interest. Carlos Mercado, data scientist at Flipside Crypto, noted that liquid staking and restaking are attracting institutions looking for both instant liquidity and increased capital efficiency.

The Shanghai upgrade and Ethereum ETFs have led to a more than 27% increase in the amount of Ether staked, to surpass 34.7 million in September. This suggests that staking activity is also increasing on other blockchains. Polygon’s PoS network is also notable as part of this growth.
