According to BlockBeats, on October 15, Celestia announced via social media that its data availability (DA) network is set to undergo its first upgrade, named Shwap. This upgrade has already been activated on the Arabica and Mocha testnets through celestia-node v0.18.2. Shwap significantly increases DA sampling speed by 12 times and reduces storage requirements by 16.5 times, enabling support for larger blocks and smaller nodes.
Shwap enhances data availability (DA) throughput while maintaining low requirements for light nodes. The high throughput of DA not only accelerates existing crypto applications but also supports new applications using any virtual machine (VM). The reduced node requirements allow anyone to run light nodes in browsers or wallets, facilitating truly verifiable network applications. Following further testing, Shwap is expected to enter the mainnet Beta phase in November.
