Andre Cronje: “Is Building an Appchain Necessary Now?”

Andre Cronje shared his personal views on seeing projects continuously building layer 2 despite market demand.

Andre spent over $5 million to build the Sonic blockchain. And while he considered “off-the-shelf” solutions like http://noble.xyz for stablecoin issuance or skipprotocol for oracles to save costs, Andre realized that those solutions were inefficient and also made the integration process more complicated. The consequences could be high costs, difficult RPC integration, and scaling the project.

According to Andre, instead of each project building its own blockchain to optimize value capture, a more effective solution could be to share network revenue with applications for mutual benefit.
