Vice President Harris is stepping up her outreach to black male voters, promising a path to economic security, as polls show Trump is gaining support among them.

Harris on Monday proposed a new plan to provide loans to Black entrepreneurs and others who face barriers to financing. The plan would provide 1 million loans with up to $20,000 forgiven, according to her campaign platform aimed at black male voters.

Harris also pledged to support a cryptocurrency regulatory framework to provide more investment certainty for the 20% of black Americans who own or have owned digital assets. She said she would work with Congress to legalize recreational marijuana and ensure that black men can start businesses and find jobs in the booming marijuana industry.

(The New York Times) About 15% of black voters said they planned to vote for Trump in this election, up 6 percentage points from 2020, according to a Siena College poll released Oct. 12.

Harris's support among black voters is higher than President Biden's before he dropped out of the race in July. Still, the narrow margin over Trump has Democrats worried that losing even a small portion of the black vote could be a fatal blow to Harris's campaign. (Bloomberg)
