MiCA compliance: Latest news about USDT stablecoin (Tether)

The new cryptocurrency regulations in the European Union, known as MiCA, have come into effect.

In fact, the rules regarding stablecoins in the EU markets have already come into effect at the end of June, but there is time until December to comply.

USDT is the world’s leading stablecoin, and it is also the most widely used in Europe.

The new European regulations recognize fiat-backed stablecoins only those issued by entities officially and legally recognized as authorized issuers of electronic money, i.e. fiat money in digital form.

As of today, Tether, the issuer of USDT, is not recognized by the European Union as an issuer of e-money.
