Players who previously withdrew their $HMSTR tokens will soon have the chance to deposit them back into the game for additional benefits, according to the development team. After attracting over 300 million players, Hamster Kombat launched its HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) in late September. Now, the developers have hinted at the timing of the game’s next major season, along with a future airdrop.

The game’s anonymous creators revealed to Decrypt that Season 2 is expected to launch “very soon, at the end of October.”

In the lead-up to the airdrop, a brief “interlude season” was launched on September 20, which is still active as of now. This season features a simplified gameplay loop focused on earning in-game diamonds instead of the previous coin system. The developers have promised that playing during the interlude will grant some form of advantage for the upcoming full season, though details remain scarce. However, they emphasized it would be a “significant boost” for players at the start of Season 2.

In addition to the interlude perks, the game recently introduced a staking-like feature, allowing players to keep their airdropped HMSTR tokens in-game rather than withdrawing them. While this function mimics traditional staking—where tokens are locked in a protocol for rewards—it is not an on-chain staking mechanism. Players who keep their tokens in the game will receive benefits in the new season, while those who withdrew their tokens will have the option to deposit them back into the game for similar advantages.

The developers have also confirmed that Season 2 will include its own airdrop, planned for next summer. Additionally, they aim to expand the game beyond Telegram by launching web apps on various platforms, with future integrations for desktop PC games also in the works.
