Vitalik may be nominated for the Nobel Prize in Economics

#Vitalik is currently being noticed by economists for his contributions to the world economy and there is a good chance that he will be nominated for a Nobel Prize.

In the October 8, 2024 podcast The Marginal Revolution, economists Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok discussed potential candidates for the Nobel Prize in Economics, which is expected to be announced in mid-October.

Alongside candidates like Michael Woodford, Susan Athey, Ariel Pakes, the conversation mentioned a familiar name:#Ethereumfounder - Vitalik Buterin.

Tyler Cowen believes that Buterin's achievements in monetary economics have far surpassed many other traditional economists at the present time.

Vitalik led the transition of Ethereum from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) through The Merge upgrade in September 2022 without disrupting network operations.

“Vitalik has created a completely new platform and currency. He has, in a sense, followed in the footsteps of Satoshi Nakamoto. But it is baffling that people still do not recognize what he has done as worthy of a Nobel Prize,” Cowen asserted.
