Madrid, October 8, 2024.- Alastria, the public-permissioned blockchain platform and meeting point for the development of blockchain technology, has revealed the 18 finalist projects of the “Blockchain Awards 2024”. All the candidates show practical and innovative applications of blockchain in areas such as digital identity, circular economy, digital assets, industrial uses - traceability and logistics -, real estate sales, financing of European startups, energy or education. The awards ceremony will take place on October 17 at the Wizink Center in Madrid, and will be attended by Ignacio Azorín González, Director of Digital Strategy for the Community of Madrid, at the closing of the event.

A jury of national and international experts, selected for their experience and commitment to the development of blockchain technology, has evaluated the 47 applications received. Luis Garvía, member of the Board of Directors of Alastria and director of the Master's Degree in Financial Risk Management at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas; Alfredo Muñoz, professor of Commercial Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and member of the Advisory Board of Alastria; Mariana de la Roche, founder of de la Roche Consulting and member of the Board of Directors of INATBA; Ilan Meléndez, regional leader of LACChain; and Sandra Adrián, legaltech advisor and CEO of Modo Cripto, are in the deliberation process to choose the winners. Alastria members will also be able to vote for the winners.

This year, the awards are given in five categories: “Decentralized Digital Identity”, “Tokenization and Digital Assets”, “Industrial Uses”, “Web3” and “Sustainability”. “The 18 finalists of the Alastria Blockchain Awards are a good example of how blockchain is today a more mature technology that is being adopted by SMEs, startups, large companies, universities, public and financial entities to carry out innovative developments that are transforming various sectors of our economy and society,” says Miguel Ángel Domínguez, president of Alastria. “This second edition shows the enormous talent and potential of blockchain technology to automate processes, optimize resources and solve real problems. The finalists in this category are transforming the real estate, banking and financial sectors by tokenizing assets and integrating payments with digital assets. ‘Blockchain Awards’

The winners of each category will be announced on October 17, during a ceremony at the Wizink Center in Madrid, starting at 7:00 p.m. The presenter will be Javier Molina, a popularizer and expert in digital assets, and will be attended by Ignacio Azorín González, director of Digital Strategy for the Community of Madrid. Miguel Ángel Domínguez, president of Alastria, and all members of the Board of the entity will also participate in the event.

Alastria's “Blockchain Awards” are an honorary distinction, the purpose of which is to recognize and give visibility to the contribution that the award-winning projects are making to the adoption of blockchain technology. After presenting the competition for the first time in 2023, Alastria is celebrating the second edition of these awards, aimed at companies, entities and public administrations, through which it recognizes the promotion and mass adoption of blockchain technology, as well as its economic and social impact.
