The starting salary for this position is $84,156 with periodic increases up to $106,454

The selected candidate will monitor and assess the risk of illicit activities involving DFS-regulated virtual currency licensees. Primary duties include using blockchain analytics to track on-chain transactions and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The regulator describes that the analyst will need to maintain “a solid understanding of existing and emerging blockchains, tokens, and technologies impacting the industry and identify areas for enhancement of the Virtual Currency Unit’s financial crime monitoring processes related to the use of blockchain analytics and market surveillance.” They will also conduct investigations into money laundering, fraud, and sanctions violations, providing insights to DFS management.

This position requires a deep understanding of blockchain technology and related laws, such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. The candidate is expected to have three years of professional experience in financial crime risk assessment.
