Vitalik Buterin Donates 100 ETH to Tornado Cash Developer Fund
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has donated 100 ETH, worth $240,000, to a legal fund to support Tornado Cash crypto mixer Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm.
The fund has already raised over 327 ETH, valued at $785,000. According to the crowdsourcing page Defend Roman Storm, the funds were received in 148 payments. This is Buterin's third donation to the Free Alexey & Roman Storm fund. In May, Buterin made a transfer of 30 ETH (about $111,000). After receiving the donations, Storm expressed his gratitude to Buterin:
"Words cannot describe how much this means to me. Thank you for your support over the years. The funds raised will be used to support the legal defense of Tornado Cash developers from the US authorities," Storm wrote.
