EigenLayer Secures Security Following $5.5 Million Theft 🔒
EigenLayer, the restaking protocol, has stated that its platform remains secure following a recent theft that resulted in the loss of $5.5 million. The investigation revealed that the hackers did not breach the protocol's infrastructure, but instead interfered with a user's email communications, allowing their wallet address to be modified.
As a result, 1,673,645 EIGEN tokens were transferred to the criminals. However, thanks to collaboration with various platforms, approximately $1.67 million worth of cryptocurrency was frozen. EigenLayer continues to work to strengthen its security and protect its users.
