On October 1, Ulbricht began his 12th year in prison. Trump, via the social network Truth, declared: "I WILL SAVE ROSS ULBRICHT!" This prompted a positive response from Ulbricht himself. However, critics see this move by Trump as an attempt to attract cryptocurrency supporters to his campaign.
Previously, many, including Elon Musk and Tim Draper, spoke out about the excessive severity of Ulbricht's sentence.
