Gurbir Grewal, the SEC’s chief enforcement officer, is stepping down on October 11. His deputy, Sanjay Wadhwa, will become acting director.

During Grewal’s three years on the job, the SEC has brought more than 2,400 cases, levying more than $20 billion in fines and paying out more than $1 billion to whistleblowers.

The cryptocurrency sector has received particular attention, with more than 100 enforcement actions.
