Techub News reported that according to the Financial Times, Tulip Siddiq, the UK Treasury's economic secretary and city minister, is pushing the UK to issue digital government bonds on the blockchain. At present, Siddiq has discussed the issue with Jessica Pulay, CEO of the Government Debt Management Office (DMO), the executive agency of the Treasury responsible for issuing and managing government debt. However, several officials familiar with the matter said that the DMO has been resisting the move. People familiar with the matter said that although there are some supporters of digital government bonds within the DMO, the agency needs to evaluate any new policies based on whether it can improve the operation of the government bond market or reduce costs.
