Cryptocrawler was available on Google Play for almost six months
đą According to a report by Check Point Research, a fake app posing as a mobile client of the WalletConnect protocol avoided detection on Google Play for about five months.
âĄïž During this time, the cryptocrawler was downloaded more than 10,000 times.
âĄïž The fake app has now been removed from Google Play. However, it managed to infect more than 150 users. The damage from the scam amounted to about $70,000.
As the researchers note, this is the first time that a cryptocrawler has targeted exclusively smartphone users.
