The fake WalletConnect wallet app has been available on the Google Play Store for 4 months and has been downloaded more than 10,000 times

According to a report by Checkpoint Research, a fake wallet app that was on the Google Play Store for four months stole over $70,000 worth of cryptocurrency in a phishing attack, and was subsequently reported and removed. The malicious software impersonated WalletConnect, luring unsuspecting users from the official store to other websites and tricking them into authorizing transactions, thereby gaining access to their funds. The fake app was downloaded a total of 10,000 times, and 150 people fell victim to the scam.
