In 2014, Zhao Changpeng made a bold decision - he sold his property in Shanghai and invested all the 1.1 million yuan he received to buy Bitcoin. However, Shanghai's housing prices doubled, while the price of Bitcoin fell to one-third of its original price. Although the investment did not immediately yield the expected returns, this move made Zhao Changpeng famous in the cryptocurrency field.
In March 2014, at an event, Zhao Changpeng met Xu Mingxing, the founder of the domestic Bitcoin exchange OKCoin. In June, Zhao Changpeng joined OKCoin as technical director and was responsible for the company's international affairs.
But less than a year after joining OKCoin, Zhao Changpeng had a disagreement with the company and eventually chose to leave.
In July 2017, Zhao Changpeng founded Binance. Eleven days after raising $15 million through public fundraising, the new cryptocurrency exchange officially opened. As it turned out, Binance quickly gained the favor of users and became a popular platform.
