**Crypto Protocol Bedrock Loses $2M in Hack, Offers Attacker a Job**
Crypto liquid restaking protocol Bedrock recently faced a $2 million security exploit. Discovered by Web3 security firm Dedaub on Sept. 26, a vulnerability in Bedrock's uniBTC vaults was reported but not promptly addressed, leading to the hack. Interestingly, the attacker had the potential to steal up to $75 million but chose not to.
In response, Bedrock is developing a reimbursement plan for investors and collaborating with audit teams to recover the lost funds. They even extended an olive branch to the hacker, offering a white hat job to help secure the protocol.
In a similar vein, crypto lender Shezmu successfully negotiated the return of nearly $5 million from a hacker by offering a 20% bounty. This highlights a growing trend of onchain negotiations to recover stolen funds in the crypto world.
