It is necessary to increase the amount of BLOBs in blocks #Ethereum to expand the L2 throughput. This was stated by the co-founder of the network Vitalik Buterin.

On March 13, the Dencun hard fork activated EIP-4844, which implemented the Proto-Danksharding option to create a new type of transaction for BLOBs.

This space is intended for temporary storage of large amounts of data, which allowed to reduce fees in the L2 ecosystem several times, especially based on the Rollups technology.

According to Buterin, the BLOB space is currently filled by about 75%. The target and maximum figure is three and six BLOBs per block. The co-founder of Ethereum proposed increasing these figures to four and eight.
