The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched "Operation AI Comply" to tackle companies misleading consumers with AI. On Sept. 25, the FTC announced actions against five firms using AI for deceptive practices.

- **DoNotPay**: Claimed to be the "world’s first robot lawyer" but failed to deliver valid legal services. Settled for $193,000.

- **Ascend Ecom**: Accused of a $25 million fraudulent scheme promising passive income through AI.

- **Ecommerce Empire Builders**: Charged with false claims about lucrative AI-powered e-commerce businesses.

- **Rytr**: Marketed an AI writing assistant generating misleading reviews.

- **FBA Machine**: Promised guaranteed income via AI-powered stores, allegedly defrauding consumers of $15.9 million.

FTC Chair Lina Khan emphasized that using AI to deceive is illegal, ensuring fair play for honest businesses and consumer protection.
