Mr. Beast views multi-million dollar advertising revenues primarily as a tool for further conquest of YouTube. Donaldson constantly repeats: he doesn’t care about money, before his death he plans to give away everything he’s earned.

At the same time, in the blogger’s warehouse you can find gold bars, a Lamborghini, and stacks of cash — these are props left over from filming. Among the “functional” things that Mr. Beast is still willing to spend money on are a Tesla Model X electric car and a custom-made refrigerator, the installation of which cost $50,000. The special thing is that the chef can refill it from the outside so as not to bother the blogger.

Here's what else he spends money on.

For new videos. Mr. Beast invests most of his income from YouTube videos into production. Filming costs three to four million dollars a month on the main channel, and another 200 thousand dollars go to creating content for Beast Reacts and MrBeast Gaming.

In total, Donaldson spends seven to eight million dollars a month on YouTube and offline businesses.

Some videos cost record amounts of money. For example, to recreate The Squid Game in real life — without the killings, of course — a blogger had to spend more than four million dollars. For comparison, the Netflix original series cost $21.4 million to produce — $2.4 million per hour-long episode.

One of the most expensive shows on the channel was a reality show where people went through a series of tests in the fight for the main prize - a private island. According to the winner, the island cost Mr. Beast two million dollars, not counting the additional costs of producing the video.

The blogger is not at all worried about the huge expenses and is not worried about his personal financial well-being in the future. “Even if I don’t upload new videos, the old ones continue to get views. I would have enough money to live on,” he says.

Millions for Charity. Philanthropy, both on and off camera, is a big part of Donaldson’s life. At 19, Jimmy landed his first major advertising contract for $10,000. With the money, Mr. Beast made a video in which he gave the entire amount to a homeless man. “I don’t want to brag about it, I just wanted to,” he explains. “I live in a world where you can make twenty grand burning ten grand.”

By December 2018, Beast had donated over $1 million through his videos, earning him the title of “YouTube’s Biggest Philanthropist.” His philanthropy comes in both large acts and small ones, like surprising a Twitch streamer with a few viewers.

Two stocks stand out in particular.

🌳 #TeamTrees. Donaldson promised to plant one new tree in Yellowstone National Park for every dollar donated. Tech YouTuber Simone Hertz, streamer Ninja, and DJ Marshmello helped promote the effort. Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, and Susan Wojcicki contributed. Together, they raised $20 million. The goal of planting 20 million trees has already been reached by February 2023.

🐳 #TeamSeas. In the second project, every dollar went toward collecting one pound (about 450 grams) of plastic from the ocean, rivers, and beaches. The blogger attracted more than a thousand bloggers from 145 countries with a total audience of more than a billion people to raise $30 million. By March 2023, the goal was reached.

Donaldson says people constantly write to say that his videos make their children want to pick up trash on beaches or help at kitchens for the homeless.
