Elon Musk also shared: Blindsight gets "groundbreaking device" title
Elon Musk's US neurotechnology company Neuralink's "Blindsight" device, which aims to enable people with visual impairments to see, has received the "groundbreaking device" title from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A statement was made on the subject from Neuralink's social media platform X account.
The post stated that the FDA gave Blindsight the title of "groundbreaking device".
Elon Musk also pointed out in his post on X that with Blindsight, even people who have lost both eyes or are blind from birth can see if their visual cortex is intact.
Musk said, "For correct expectations, the vision will first be low resolution like Atari graphics, but in the end, it has the potential to be even better than natural vision."
Citing the visually impaired character Geordi La Forge from the famous Star Trek series, who sees through a device, Musk noted that Blindsight has the potential to provide vision in infrared, ultraviolet and even radar wavelengths.
