Eclipse is set to launch its mainnet in October as the first platform to process transactions using the Ethereum Layer 2 solution, the Solana Virtual Machine. “The public mainnet will be launched by the end of October,” Eclipse Labs CEO Vijay Chetty told Cointelegraph in an interview at the Solana Breakpoint conference in Singapore. Chetty noted that they are currently on the developer mainnet, adding that the user interfaces have not yet been activated.

Eclipse aims to bring Web2 scale to Web3 by combining the best features of Ethereum, Solana, and Celestia. Chetty suggested that this approach would avoid the worst features of each blockchain. However, he noted that Eclipse will face major competitors in the Ethereum Layer 2 market, such as Arbitrum One, Base, and OP Mainnet.

Eclipse’s strategy will be to integrate existing Solana applications and create new native applications. What do you think about this? We welcome your comments.
