Former US President Donald Trump paid for $1,000 worth of burgers and drinks with Bitcoin at New York City's crypto-themed bar, PubKey, on Thursday, according to Bitcoin Magazine via Decrypt. Trump and his entourage visited the restaurant and reportedly spent more than $1,000 on burgers, fries, onion rings and drinks. The Bitcoin transaction was processed through a Lightning Network node operated by the restaurant. This is not the first time that Trump has been associated with cryptocurrency. In 2019, he tweeted that he was "not a fan" of Bitcoin, but that he was "open to learning more about it." In 2020, he said that he was "looking into" Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It is unclear whether Trump personally made the Bitcoin transaction or if he used an intermediary. However, the fact that he chose to use Bitcoin at a crypto-themed bar is a sign that he is at least somewhat familiar with the technology.
