- On September 19, PeckShield warned the public that Decentraland's account had been compromised.

- The blockchain security firm advised users not to interact with the account and wait for an official announcement from Decentraland.

- The attacker spread a phishing link, asking users to connect their cryptocurrency wallets to receive the airdrop, resulting in financial loss.
