The social media account of Banana Gun (BANANA), an altcoin project backed by cryptocurrency exchange Binance, was hacked.

Banan Gun's social media account was cyber-attacked around 12:00 on September 19, and the attackers began sharing unexpected posts.

The Banana Gun team announced in a pinned message on their Telegram channel that they were investigating the issue and that the bot was currently offline. While concerns increased among users over these developments, it was stated that a total of 563 ETH (approximately $1.4 million) on the platform’s mainnet was stolen.

Community member yannickcrypto.eth stated in a post on social media platform X that there have been 36 victims so far, and that considering this situation, he does not think that Banana Gun itself could have been hacked, and that more victims are needed.

Banana Gun is a Telegram-based trading bot that allows users to perform on-chain transactions and quickly catch up on upcoming token launches. According to Dune Analytics, the platform has served around 272,000 users to date, generating $6 billion in trading volume.

This isn’t the first time Banana Gun has experienced problems. Last September, the launch of the platform’s revenue-sharing token, Banana token, failed due to a bug in the smart contract.

It was Binance's first airdrop project

Banana Gun, a Telegram-based trading bot, can be used on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Blast networks.

Binance introduced Banana Gun (BANANA) as the first project on the Binance Airdrops Portal in its announcement in July 2024. After organizing an airdrop to its users who met the relevant criteria, Binance listed BANANA on the exchange on July 20. Users can buy and sell with Bitcoin, USDT, BNB, and FDUSD, as well as the Turkish lira pair.
