PANews reported on September 19 that according to Fortune, the hacker group Rhysida asked the operator of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to pay $6 million in Bitcoin in exchange for the files stolen in the cyber attack last month. Lance Lyttle, general manager of Port Aviation, said he would not pay, and the FBI is currently conducting a criminal investigation. Hackers have posted copies of eight files stolen from the Port system on the dark web website and are seeking 100 Bitcoins to purchase the data. The attack occurred on August 24, and flights were able to operate normally, but the attack caused chaos in ticketing, check-in kiosks, and baggage handling. Passengers on small airlines have to use paper boarding passes.
