🇺🇸 SEC investigates fake crypto platforms
🛡 A day before a U.S. Congressional hearing on “pig butchering” scams, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed lawsuits against 3 individuals and 5 companies, accusing them of this type of fraud.
⏺ In one case, three Chinese-American individuals are accused of creating the fake cryptocurrency platform NanoBit, which defrauded at least 18 investors of $1 million.
⏺ The creators of another platform, CoinW6, misappropriated $2.2 million from 11 investors.
It is noted that these are the first enforcement actions of this kind by the SEC.
