Following the July 2024 cyberattack in which $235 million was stolen from WazirX users’ wallets, Binance has denied claims of liability. 🛡️

Binance has stated that it neither owns nor operates the Indian platform and called on the WazirX team to take full responsibility.

WazirX had reported that the multisig wallet containing user funds was hacked. Binance, however, has insisted that it had no operational role in the incident.

WazirX was unable to meet withdrawal demands after the attack and has sought protection from the High Court of Singapore. Founder Nischal Shetty has partly blamed Binance.

Binance has denied these claims, stating that WazirX and Liminal fully control the funds. It also said that WazirX’s claims of ownership and operational affiliation with Binance are misleading.

It called on the crypto community to critically evaluate Shetty’s “misleading” statements. 🔍
