Odaily Planet Daily News: At an analyst meeting last week, billionaire Oracle co-founder and CTO Larry Ellison told the audience that he and Elon Musk had invited Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun to dinner at Nob Palo Alto and "begged" Huang Renxun to give them more GPUs. Ellison recalled: "I can describe that dinner as 'Elon and I begged Jensen (Huang Renxun) for GPUs'. Please take our money, by the way, I'm ready for dinner. No, no, take some more. We need you to take more of our money." Ellison said the results were positive, "Everything went well. I mean, it worked." Oracle has invested heavily in GPU technology, especially in AI applications. The technology giant announced its first quarter results for fiscal 2025 this month, revealing that revenue increased 7% year-on-year to $13.3 billion. Profits were $2.9 billion. Oracle also disclosed that it has 162 cloud data centers in operation or under construction around the world, the largest of which is 800 megawatts and will house "acres of Nvidia GPU clusters" for training large-scale AI models. In the first quarter, Oracle signed another 42 cloud GPU contracts totaling $3 billion. Similarly, Tesla also relies on Nvidia GPUs to power supercomputers to train the neural networks for its autonomous and assisted driving technologies. (Fortune)
