Binance founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, who is serving a four-month prison sentence, will be released on September 29.

- According to the US Bureau of Prisons website, Zhao, known as inmate 88087-510, spent three months in Lompoc II, California, and was transferred to the San Pedro halfway house in late August.

- Zhao pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act and agreed to pay a $50 million fine and step down as CEO of Binance.

- Richard Teng, a former regulator in Abu Dhabi and Singapore, has been named the new CEO of Binance.

- Binance also agreed to pay $4.3 million to settle charges of violating US sanctions and money transmission laws.
