A Crypto X (formerly Twitter) user traced a link between Binance and WazirX in connection with the WazirX hacking incident. This user asked the Binance team to provide crucial details related to the hacker.

WazirX was a popular Indian crypto exchange, but unfortunately, two months ago, this exchange was hacked, losing nearly $230 million worth of cryptocurrencies, and since then, the exchange’s services have been suspended. The WazirX leadership filed a moratorium application in a Singapore court to save the exchange from legal attacks.

On 15 Sep 2024, a Crypto X user, dedicated to representing and uniting WazirX customers seeking to recover their funds from the WazirX exchange, traced the WazirX hacker’s transaction and found a link to a Binance account.

This Crypto X user noted that the hacker received 9.2 ETH from an account registered on the Binance crypto exchange just a day before the hacking incident occurred.

According to this person, Binance’s KYC verification system is much better than WazirX’s, and there is a high chance that some sensitive information about the hacker can be collected. He urged the Binance team to provide disclosure on this matter and assist WazirX in finding some clues about the hacker.

A popular crypto influencer in the Indian crypto community, Aditya Singh, also shared similar details and asked crypto security experts to look into this matter if they had missed this detail.

One of the Wallets involved in Wazirx Hack was funded by Binance KYC Account. How do we know this ? I tracked one of the wallet which was involved in the Wazirx hack and went on to track from where it got funded. Which lead me to final Wallet which received 9.19 ETH from… pic.twitter.com/9HQktZB8dA

Now, it will be interesting to see whether the Binance security team will respond to this matter or not, as there is already a high-level dispute between Binance and WazirX over the actual ownership of the WazirX crypto exchange.
