Doodles premieres at Toronto International Film Festival Dullsville and the Doodleverse

Doodles premiered Dullsville and the Doodleverse, bringing the fictional town of Dullsville to life, at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, where executive producer Pharrell Williams and rapper Coi Leray (who voices a character in the 20-minute animated special) were joined by the Doodles team and other collaborators.

Fans can watch Dullsville and the Doodleverse on Doodlesᵗᵛ starting Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. ET, and the show comes hot on the heels of the release of “Can’t Hold Me Down,” which attracted 1 million views in its first 72 hours, according to Austin Hurwitz, Doodles’ head of business development.

Illuvium Launches Gauntlet Leviathan Mode

Illuvium, an open-world auto-battle RPG, launched its mainnet on July 25 with a new software patch that reportedly allows players to use their highest-level NFTs to progress in the game.

The update, called "Gauntlet Leviathan Mode," appears to give dedicated players a competitive advantage by letting them boost the power of Illuvials, weapons, and set NFTs, and the patch also fixes software bugs and improves the existing Overworld and Arena modes.

Portal Partners with Immutable to Help Guild of the Guardians Pass 1 Million Downloads

Web3 distribution platform Portal is partnering with Immutable, a layer-2 blockchain designed specifically for games, in a collaboration that effectively connects over 300 Immutable games to Portal’s stack.

The collaboration, announced at Korea Blockchain Week, aims to simplify user experience and payments in blockchain games, with the Portal platform supporting transactions such as data, payments and rewards for more than 200 games.

With the addition of the Portal system to Immutable's games, players are hoping for more opportunities for interaction and collaboration, as well as more convenient payment methods. This comes on the heels of Immutable's announcement that its game Guild of the Guardians, which debuted on May 15, has surpassed 1 million downloads.

Justin Aversano’s “INTRO-SPECTIVE: Trust the Process” exhibition opens in Austria

Photographer and NFT artist Justin Aversano returns with a new solo exhibition, “INTRO-SPECTIVE: Trust the Process,” curated by contemporary art consultant Marlène Corbun, opening on September 3 at Francisco Carolinium in Linz, Austria.

Aversano’s exhibition features a selection of digital and physical works from across his 12-year career, and in an interview with digital arts news outlet nft now , he described the show as a take on the traditional retrospective format, emphasizing self-reflection and processing emotions expressed through photographs.

Sony Pictures Music launches its own blockchain and web3 incubator

Sony Group has announced the launch of Soneium Spark, a Web3 incubator to help developers create decentralized applications (dApps) for its Sony Pictures and Sony Music divisions.

Developers in the incubator will build on Soneium Minato, a new Ethereum layer-2 solution developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a collaboration between Sony’s internal web3 team and developer group Startale Labs.

A Sony press release said the company is “committed to making web3 use cases a part of everyday life” and that the partnership with Startale Labs is backed by Samsung Next, the investment arm of Samsung.

Vitalik Buterin’s Ethereum Story Opens in Theaters for One Day Only

A new documentary about Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin will premiere worldwide on September 18. Directed by activist filmmakers Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci, who co-founded the nonprofit Optimist, the film tells the story of Buterin and Ethereum’s community of developers and hackers in their pursuit of building a decentralized internet.

PayPal and Venmo Now Support Ethereum Name Service for Crypto Payments

Users of popular remittance apps PayPal and Venmo may have noticed recent upgrades to their services. Both platforms recently added support for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) for U.S. users. The new feature allows users to send cryptocurrencies by entering simplified ENS names instead of long wallet addresses, reducing the chance of errors.

The move is part of PayPal’s broader push into the cryptocurrency space, namely its recent partnership with payments gateway MoonPay. According to cryptocurrency news outlet The Block, ENS currently records more than 2 million names registered on the chain.
