01 Introduction
It is said that college graduates are now unemployed. The little junior sister who refused to believe in it could not escape this curse after all.
Being unemployed all the time is not a solution. I saw that my old employer Biteye was still hiring, so I asked my boss if I could go back, crying and saying that I regretted leaving the company.
It just so happened that a previous intern resigned, leaving a position vacant, so I quickly joined the company to do operations.
When I was still lamenting the bad environment and was afraid that it would be difficult for my senior brother to find a job again after his departure, a bolt from the blue came: my senior brother resigned because he had become financially independent, OMG!
The collective return to zero is certainly terrible, but the success of a colleague is even more worrying. It turns out that the gap between people is sometimes greater than the gap between people and dogs!
In order to get ashore as soon as possible like my senior brother, after my constant harassment (inviting him to dinner), I finally found out some details.
02 Senior Brother’s Entry into the Circle
My senior brother probably entered the circle in 2021. I believe that the old people in the circle should not have forgotten what major events happened in 2021.
That year, my senior brother put his hands in his pockets and didn’t know what an opponent was.
From being introduced to Shib in the beginning, to later betting on the baby dog, with a capital of 3,000 yuan, he made a big splash in various local dog projects, and thanks to the zoo craze at that time, his assets once reached a million.
Although this amount of money is nothing compared to some big guys, for a young man in his twenties, making a million from scratch in just a few months is like a dream.
Yes, it was like a dream, and soon the day came when the beautiful dream was shattered.
As the popularity of local dogs declined, various tokens began to plummet one after another. I always thought about making a quick profit and running away, but the price of the token hit a new low every time.
After going around in circles, he was finally beaten back to his original form.
At the beginning of 2022, the senior brother still took the same 3,000 yuan and started a new way to make money, but this time, he started to make money.
03 The first pot of gold
Like many people, my journey of masturbating also started from the source of all evil, Galaxy (now Galaxy has betrayed the masses, plans to charge users, and has been criticized by everyone).
Because the capital was too small, I experienced the feeling of breaking my thigh as soon as I entered the market.
At that time, almost all those who played with NFTs traded on OpenSea. Although OpenSea had a large amount of traffic, it was relatively centralized. It charged high fees and made a fortune quietly, but it never issued any coins.
This is unbearable for the Web3 industry where "decentralization" is deeply rooted in people's hearts, so there are often various projects clamoring to overthrow OpenSea. You don't want to issue coins, right? Then I will issue them for you!
Soon, the talk turned into reality. A project named OpenDAO, which has a similar name to OpenSea, started airdropping $SOS tokens worth several hundred dollars to its users. The requirements were simple: you just had to be an OpenSea user.
The senior brother said that he was waiting for the subway that afternoon when he heard the news of the airdrop. He was excited but also a little uneasy because at that time any operation on the main network's NFT cost dozens of dollars, and he was reluctant to part with it many times.
But the moment he opened the airdrop page, all the complicated emotions disappeared, and only two words remained in his mind - "Regret, I regret it so much."
But this is actually expected. It's just like in school days, there are always people who don't work hard in normal times, but when it comes to exams, they fantasize that they can have a flash of inspiration, or that the teacher marks the paper incorrectly, so they just get lucky, and then they get high scores. How is that possible?
After this blow, he said that he would no longer search on QQ, and with the determination of "no matter how much I lose, the worst that can happen is I'll go to a factory to work as a screwdriver", he began to follow some airdrop bloggers to do the tasks of the Galaxy Girl.
Even though he still didn’t have the money to build the mainnet, he did all the other tasks he could. Although he didn’t get the highest level Galaxy Girl NFT in the end, he still received an airdrop of several thousand dollars, which was his first pot of gold.
04 Small gains
After having some capital, some of the projects that my senior brother looked at started to become more advanced.
For example, at that time, a blogger on Weibo said that by staking ATOM, one could get a lot of airdrops without doing anything. My senior said that he was really tempted and planned to buy 100 ATOMs and put them all in.
Finally, after some research, I found that I also needed to download a Keplr wallet, and there were a bunch of chains that I had to deal with, which seemed quite troublesome, so I didn’t stake.
Fortunately, he did not stake this thing. At that time, ATOM was worth dozens of dollars, but now it is worth 4 dollars.
Not only has there been no major airdrops, the staking threshold has also increased from 5 ATOMs. In the later stages, many projects even stopped airdropping ATOM stakers.
If you bought ATOM at a high price and held it until now, you must be crying without tears!
My senior brother didn’t have much knowledge at that time. After giving up staking ATOM, he didn’t know what else to do. When he saw other bloggers starting to do layer2 airdrops, such as ARB and ZK, he followed suit and added accounts. He added about a dozen accounts for each project.
A few months later, he started studying Starknet again, but at that time he felt it was too slow and difficult to use, so he only interacted with 5 accounts and gave up.
During this period, he also encountered some zero-based projects, such as Aztec in the privacy track, where he found that the project was gone.
The days without airdrops lasted for about half a year. He said that he once thought about quitting the circle, because he always felt that the benefits of making money had disappeared, but he did not make enough money and was very unwilling to accept it.
The boring scene was completely broken in March 2023, when the great airdrop of ARB brought huge harvest to the investors.
The senior brother’s 15 accounts eventually earned 30,000 coins. He sold them all as soon as the exchange opened, making almost 40,000 US dollars, enough to buy a Tesla.
My senior brother secretly told me that the cost of ARB is actually very low, maybe only a dozen dollars for one number. Calculated in this way, the profit of each number is probably hundreds of times, which is worthy of being called a big name.
Looking back at the current airdrops, not only are there few of them, but there are also all kinds of witches and tricks. It's so miserable.
With the end of the ARB airdrop, the fomo period of the entire airdrop industry followed, and many studios and elderly people began to flock to the airdrop track.
Seeing that everyone was getting more and more excited, I didn't dare to be negligent. I invested again immediately after getting the ARB profits, and created dozens of ZK mainnet accounts. I also picked up the previous Starknet account and continued to work on it. I was busy every day, and I really felt that I would earn less money if I was a step behind others.
Having just experienced Da Mao, the senior brother is in much better condition than before and is full of energy when doing the interaction.
In the next two or three months, he was basically brushing the number of ZK transactions. During this period, he also encountered Cyberconnect's coin issuance. As a sister project of Galaxy, he naturally also participated in it. Although the airdrop he received was just a pig's trotter meal, it just covered the interaction cost of ZK.
Later, there were more and more airdrops of local coins on some chains, such as Aidoge on ARB and Cheems on ZK. Although the airdrops were not large, the quantity was large, and the airdrops were directly reduced to zero cost.
05 Single Project A7
The next turning point occurred in July 2023. I didn’t know where I saw the gossip at the time, and it seemed that some big guys had started to work on Starknet. Is the big one really coming?
After seeing that the number of addresses on the Starknet chain had indeed increased sharply, and there had been no news of airdrops from Zksync, the senior brother gritted his teeth and stomped his feet, and directly put all his belongings into Starknet, even if he died!
At that time, many studios were already using fingerprint browser + synchronizer for operations. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what it is. It is a tool that can improve efficiency.
However, my senior brother always believed that manual operation was safer. Although automation saved time, it would be counterproductive if he was discovered.
The strategy adopted by the senior brother was to operate manually, transfer a large amount of money in, swipe small transactions and large loans, and then transfer the funds out. He also left some balance in each account and did not transfer all of it out. This made him look more like a real person, haha.
The next two months of summer vacation are another crazy start-up period because there is no academic burden.
He created a total of 100 new accounts in one summer vacation, and kept each account active on the chain every week.
It was not until the start of school in September that the frequency had to be reduced, from being active once a week to being active twice a week, and later to only being active once a month. Fortunately, he persisted, and in the end most of his accounts had interactions at least once a month.
At that time in 2023, my junior sister had almost entered the circle. In fact, there was no market in the second half of 2023. But even so, my senior brother said that he almost got rich again during the summer vacation. (Huh? Why did I say "again", 555~)
It was probably during the time when he was working on interactions during the summer vacation that he made an inscription called ethi, which cost $50.
He didn't know what it was at the time, but he sold it when it went up to $2,500. He said that if he held it until December, it would be worth about $100,000 (Oh my god, is this true...). This was the closest he had ever been to becoming rich.
By the end of 2023, in addition to Inscription, the only bright spot was the social protocol Friendtech. (I read the news these two days and saw that Friendtech had given up the contract rights and was completely ruined...)
It seems that the senior brother at this time seems to be much more powerful than before. He did not take over the KOL's key, but invested several ETH himself to set up the matrix number.
Although we encountered many troubles along the way, such as the project party changing the rules and Twitter blocking the account, fortunately most of the accounts survived.
Soon, the New Year of 2024 came to an end and good news came from Starknet.
My senior said that he was more nervous about checking the airdrop than checking his college entrance examination scores. As soon as he saw the airdrop standards and manually checked a few large numbers, he knew that this wave was stable.
The final result was gratifying. About 100 out of 110 accounts hit the target (the accounts that were eliminated were because they were done too late and were not active for three months, which was a pity). In total, more than 100,000 coins were won.
I secretly took a look at the price of Strk on the first day of trading. It was at least sold for $2 each. 100,000 coins would be 1.5 million RMB, which is scary!
There was a standard in the Stark airdrop that eliminated many people. It required that each account must have a certain balance.
But the balances of all of his accounts met the requirements. I curiously asked him how he thought of leaving a balance. He said that he just wanted to leave some money to facilitate the deduction of handling fees during subsequent interactions. It was purely luck, but I felt that he was being modest.
Anyway, by chance and a few months of hard work, my brother's total assets should easily reach A7 by the time he graduates. (A7 means assets in seven digits, the lowest being 1,000,000. I'm embarrassed to ask about A7s starting with a few digits, after all, he reached A7.15 in one go after Stark)
06 Continue harvesting vegetables
Stark got off to a good start in 2024. In the subsequent market conditions, Stark seemed to have started printing money and was reaping the profits like crazy.
He won 10 Bitcoin smiley face NFTs and hundreds of Papillon NFTs in a row, with a profit of tens of thousands of dollars on each.
In March and April, the cross-chain bridge Wormhole announced an airdrop. Although it only had one interaction of over ten thousand dollars when crossing Sei, the single number still received an airdrop of 8000U.
Friendtech in May soon arrived. The matrix number he had laid out earlier received a total of more than 20,000 coins and sold them for about 30,000 dollars.
The Pizza airdrop in June was a big surprise: when he was drawing the Bitsmiley whitelist in February, he divided 100 wallets into OKX for the draw, and in early May, he collected these BTCs to pledge Solv Protocol. As a result, almost every wallet of his had a transfer record, and he got 8,000 Pizzas by accident.
This wave was like a pie in the sky. My colleagues said that they had enjoyed sumptuous meals for several days (my junior sister had not joined the company at that time, so she didn’t get to enjoy it 🙃).
After these waves of airdrop bombings, the senior brother finally felt that he had earned enough, so he chose to resign.
You all know the rest of the story. Just as it was written at the beginning, I soon passed the interview and returned to Biteye. We both completed the handover perfectly, and we both have a bright future.
07 No more hair!
Good times don’t last long; prosperity and decline seem to be an eternal law.
ZK, which everyone has been working on for 3 years, finally couldn't hold back and issued a coin, but my senior brother was not very happy.
Because he only had one big account that received more than 10,000 tokens, most of which were "Not Eligible", with only tens of thousands of coins in total. The worst thing is that he hasn't sold those coins yet...
Layerzero, another cross-chain bridge project, seems to be even worse, not even as much as Wormhole, which was given away for free. 30 accounts only sold 1,000U in total, which is not an exaggeration to say that it is a loss.
This is indeed the case. Most of the airdrops of projects in the second half of the year began to reverse, although he was lucky enough to avoid most of them.
However, the bleak market also caused his assets to shrink unprecedentedly: the few smiley face NFTs he had left seemed to be almost gone, and 100 Papillon NFTs fell to less than $50 each. Although Friendtech was exchanged for ETH, ETH fell, Pizza was exchanged for BTC, and BTC fell again. Don’t even mention the remaining Stark, it’s almost gone...
With his assets shrinking and no new airdrop income, although he didn't mention resigning, I could clearly feel that he regretted it a little.
But there’s no use regretting, haha. I can only wait for me, your junior sister, to become rich next time, and then give my position to you, my senior brother!
08 Summary
My senior brother always emphasized that he was just lucky, and the good market for wool-pulling in the past two years enabled him to make some big profits.
Although I admit that the market is indeed important, my personal level must have played a role as well. Otherwise, why wasn't I the one who got rich when the market was good? 😭
To sum up, I found that in the process of getting big hair, my senior brother always relied on the following two abilities.
One is the screening ability. He can identify more than 90% of scam projects and filter out KOLs that post advertisements or have no nutritional value, which allows him to focus most of his energy on reliable projects;
The other is execution. Manually completing the interaction of dozens or hundreds of accounts requires a lot of energy and perseverance.
My senior brother was studying for a master's degree at the time, and the academic pressure was not heavy. His excellent screening ability, sufficient time and good execution allowed him to make so much money.
Although the current airdrop track is sluggish, I have learned a lot from communicating with my senior. I hope that when the big money comes one day in the future, everyone can seize the opportunity and get ashore in one wave! 🥰
