Remy Ra St. Felix, a 25-year-old from Florida, was sentenced to 47 years in prison for his involvement in a cryptocurrency robbery scheme. 

This sentence was handed down following a series of home invasions across multiple states, where Felix and his associates stole over $3.5 million in cryptocurrency. In addition to his prison term, Felix will serve five years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay $524,153.39 in restitution.

Crypto robbery scheme spanned multiple states

Felix and his co-conspirators were found guilty of carrying out a series of violent home invasions between September 2022 and July 2023. Their criminal activities involved sim swaps and aggressive home invasions, targeting individuals with significant cryptocurrency holdings. The US Department of Justice confirmed that 11 of Felix’s associates were also sentenced for their roles in these crimes.

One of the most notable incidents occurred in September 2022 when Felix and his gang broke into a Delray Beach, Florida, home. They held the family at gunpoint, kidnapped the man of the house, and left him 120 miles from his residence. The violence escalated in December 2022 when the group invaded a home in Little Elm, Texas, restraining the family at gunpoint for over three hours.

The criminal spree continued in April 2023 in Durham, North Carolina, where the gang held a couple at gunpoint, restrained them with cable ties, and assaulted them before fleeing with over $150,000 in cryptocurrency. Before this invasion, the group had hacked into the couple’s email accounts and conducted days of surveillance. Their crime wave finally ended in July 2023 when Felix attempted another home invasion in Long Island, New York, but was identified and arrested.

Co-conspirators receive sentences

The justice system also handed down significant sentences to Felix’s associates. On February 6, Jarod Gabriel Seemungal, 23, pleaded guilty to all charges, including his role in the Durham home invasion, receiving a 20-year prison sentence and over $4 million in restitution. Elmer Ruben Castro, 23, who admitted to conspiracy to commit kidnapping, awaits sentencing on October 1.

Other members of the gang received similarly harsh sentences. Jose Alfredo Avila, 27, of West Palm Beach, was sentenced to 20 years for kidnapping and robbery, with four years of supervised release and restitution of $365,100. Contreras received a 15-year sentence, five years of supervised release, and $355,800 in restitution. Another co-conspirator, Daily, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with four years of supervised release and $524,153.39 in restitution.

Gonzalez and Silva each received 12-year sentences, while Nathan Noel Quintana, 24, of Royal Palm Beach, was sentenced to 16 years. Salazar and Gamez, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to interfere with commerce through robbery, were sentenced to five years and $355,800 in restitution for Salazar and eight years with $355,800 in restitution for Gamez. These sentences reflect the severity of the crimes committed by Felix and his associates, marking the end of their violent and calculated crypto robbery spree.
