**Vega Chain Shuts Down, Paves Way for New Project**
In a near-unanimous community vote on Sep. 12, the proposal to shut down Vega Chain and its VEGA token was approved. Initially announced on Aug. 30, the team cited the end of its Alpha phase and lessons learned about community usage and vision shortcomings.
With the shutdown, VEGA will cease trading, and users have two months to clear their accounts. Validators will keep nodes operational during this period to facilitate withdrawals.
The team is now focusing on a new project, Nebula, featuring a new token, NEB. VEGA holders will be offered a token swap, with up to 20% of assets allocated to support the transition. A final governance vote will confirm market price settlement and fund allocation for the Alpha mainnet's operation during offboarding.
