Seeking to make the United States the “crypto capital” of the world?

Donald Trump, who is seeking to win the US presidential election in 2024, included a mention of cryptocurrencies in his speech about the country’s economic directions. During his speech to the New York Economic Club yesterday, Thursday, the former president briefly referred to cryptocurrencies, and reiterated his intention to make the United States “the capital of Bitcoin and the crypto sector of the world” if he is re-elected.

Trump also pledged that his administration would repeal at least 10 old laws in exchange for each new law, saying: “We will be able to do that easily,” adding that this would free the US economy from crippling laws. He added: “We will support promising sectors of the future rather than attack them, including making the United States the capital of Bitcoin and digital assets.”

The former cryptocurrency chief’s mention came at an economic forum days after the Trump family hinted at plans to announce a new decentralized finance project, World Liberty Financial, designed to run on the Aave protocol, a popular Ethereum-based lending platform. Trump’s hour-long speech also included plans to reduce current regulatory restrictions, reduce inflation and increase domestic energy production.
