According to TechFlow, on September 5, Cointelegraph reported that payment giant Mastercard has partnered with European crypto payment infrastructure provider Mercuryo to launch a euro-denominated debit card. The card allows users to spend cryptocurrencies stored in non-custodial wallets directly at more than 100 million merchants that accept Mastercard.

Christian Rau, senior vice president of Mastercard, said that the cooperation aims to eliminate the barriers between blockchain and traditional payments and provide consumers who want to use digital assets with a convenient, reliable and secure payment method. This service will charge a certain fee, including a 1.6 euro card issuance fee, a 1 euro monthly maintenance fee, and a 0.95% withdrawal fee charged by Mercuryo.
