According to TechFlow, former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles said in an interview at the Seoul Blockchain Week event in South Korea that he plans to launch a new cryptocurrency exchange EllipX in Europe later this month.

The exchange will be based in Poland and focus on transparency and user-friendliness. Karpeles will serve as EllipX’s chief technology officer, overseeing the technical aspects.

He stressed that EllipX will adopt a structure similar to the New York Stock Exchange, separating functions such as trading, brokerage and storage to increase transparency.

In addition, EllipX will ensure transparency by sharing technical data and third-party audits. In order to attract users, EllipX will launch the EllipX wallet equipped with multi-party computing technology, aiming to provide a simpler user experience.

Karpeles said Mt. Gox NFT holders will enjoy discounted trading fees on the new platform, while all Mt. Gox customers between 2010 and 2014 will be eligible to receive the NFT for free.
