China Daily, an English-language newspaper affiliated with the Central Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China, hopes to create its own metaverse and NFT platform.
According to the announcement, China Daily will spend 2.813 million RMB ($390,000) to hire a third-party contractor who can design the NFT platform within its budget. China Daily wrote that the contractor could be a "Chinese or foreign" company specializing in blockchain.
Additionally, the blockchain company that wins the contract must have a mainnet that can handle up to 10,000 transactions per second.
Contractors must submit applications by October 17 and design the platform within three months.
The China Daily NFT platform aims to "enhance the spread of the influence of Chinese civilization" by using "technologies such as the metaverse, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), hybrid economy (AR) and blockchain, non-fungible digital assets (NFT), big data, cloud computing and other technologies."
The developers claim that the platform should allow for “the uploading, display, and management of digital collections, while also supporting multimedia formats and multiple collection types.” Pricing, bidding, and time-limit features should also be integrated into the NFT platform along with multi-currency payments.
“In addition to our own platforms, we will select mainstream domestic and foreign NFT platforms suitable for publishing digital collectibles to publish complete sets of NFT digital collectibles based on the project’s goals and target groups. Foreign platforms include but are not limited to OpenSea, Rarible, SuperRare, Foundation, etc.
