US Authorities Oppose Ex-FTX Exec’s Motion to Void Plea Deal
The US Attorney’s Office has opposed former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame’s motion to void his guilty plea. Salame’s legal team argued that prosecutors had implied they would not continue investigating his partner, Michelle Bond. However, in an Aug. 26 filing, prosecutors stated that Salame’s claim was “demonstrably false” and announced their intention to oppose his petition in writing by Sept. 4. Salame’s plea deal resulted in a 7.5-year prison sentence for campaign finance violations. Authorities have since indicted Bond on similar charges related to her 2022 campaign for the US House of Representatives.
