1. What is Celestia?
Celestia uses a modular architecture that separates consensus from data availability (DA). This means that application chains can enjoy shared security while maintaining autonomous governance. Some of you may not know what data availability (DA) is. Let me explain: Data availability (DA) refers to the ability of blockchain to ensure that all participants can access and verify the data on the chain. Simply put, data availability ensures that all transactions and state changes are recorded and verifiable, thereby preventing fraud and errors and ensuring the integrity and scalability of the network.

The Celestia team is composed of top scholars and engineers in the field of blockchain expansion with rich experience. Core members include: Mustafa Al-Bassam, CEO, former co-founder of Lulzsec; Ismail Khoffi, CTO, senior research engineer; John Adler, CRO, L2 expansion expert and co-founder of Fuel Labs; and Nike White, COO, co-founder of Harmony.

Celestia successfully raised $55 million led by Bain Capital Crypto and Polychain Capital. This financing made Celestia a unicorn with a valuation of $1 billion and was four times oversubscribed. As early as March 2021, Celestia also raised $1.5 million in the seed round, led by Binance Labs.

Celestia's modular design aims to decompose blockchain functions. Traditional blockchains tightly couple consensus, execution and other functions, while Celestia separates these functions. 2. Consensus and Execution
Celestia separates the consensus and execution of blockchain. It is responsible for determining the order of transactions (consensus), but the execution of transactions is handed over to other systems. In this way, the system becomes more flexible, transactions are processed faster, and each part develops independently without dragging each other down. In short, Celestia is like a housekeeper, arranging the order of transactions and leaving the specific work to professionals.
3. Advantages of Celestia
1. Autonomy: Rollup on Ethereum requires Ethereum to verify, while Rollup on Celestia is like an independent blockchain and operates autonomously.
2. Easy deployment: On Celestia, developers can quickly deploy new blockchains without complex consensus and high costs.
3. Minimal governance: Celestia manages the execution layer and the consensus layer separately, so the execution layer can be improved quickly while the consensus layer remains stable.
4. Efficient execution environment: Celestia only stores data and does not process status. Each Rollup manages its own status and does not interfere with each other.
5. Scalability: Celestia improves the processing speed and capacity of the blockchain through Data Availability Sampling (DAS).
4. Celestia Ecosystem Development
The Celestia ecosystem continues to grow, with 85 protocols and applications currently running on it. Notable native innovative protocols include Berachain, Caldera, Dymension, and Milkyway.
