Breaking News: Telegram CEO Pavel Durov Arrested in FranceđŸ€Ż

Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder and CEO of Telegram, was reportedly arrested on Saturday evening at Bourget Airport, located just outside Paris. According to French media outlets TF1 and BFM TV, the arrest occurred while Durov was aboard his private jet, returning from Azerbaijan.

Citing unnamed sources, the reports indicate that Durov was detained due to an outstanding arrest warrant in France. The warrant is reportedly connected to a preliminary police investigation focused on the Telegram messaging app’s moderation practices. Authorities are concerned that the platform’s lack of adequate moderation has allowed criminal activities to proliferate unchecked.

As of now, Telegram has not issued any official response. Additionally, the French Interior Ministry and local police have declined to comment on the situation.

The arrest reportedly took place at around 20:00 local time (18:00 GMT).
