According to TechFlow, on August 13, Nicolas Bonta, co-founder of Bitcoin mining company Bitfarms, announced his resignation from the board of directors. CEO Ben Gagnon was appointed to the company's board of directors, and lead director Brian Howlett became the new independent chairman.

Bonta was at the center of a takeover battle between Riot Platforms and Bitfarms in the U.S. Riot Platforms attempted to acquire Bitfarms for about $950 million in April and withdrew the offer in June. Riot currently holds about 70 million shares in Bitfarms and has nominated three independent directors to the Bitfarms board. Bitfarms fired CEO Geoffrey Morphy in July and replaced him with Gagnon.
