According to Odaily Planet Daily, Telegram achieved profitability for the first time this year and repaid a large part of its $2 billion debt. The arrest of founder Pavel Durov may affect plans to go public in early 2026.
Telegram declined to comment, stressing that the company is still wholly owned by Pavel Durov and that he has no plans to sell his stake. Still, some investors remain cautious.
Telegram said it would repay investors on time and increased its cryptocurrency holdings due to the Trump administration's friendly attitude towards cryptocurrencies in the United States.
