According to Odaily Planet Daily, OpenAI CEO Altman hopes to transform the company into a for-profit entity but faces obstacles from Microsoft. Microsoft has committed over $13 billion to OpenAI.
Since last October, OpenAI and Microsoft have been negotiating structural changes, with discussions focusing on Microsoft's equity in the for-profit entity, its status as a cloud service provider, the use of intellectual property rights, and revenue sharing.
If OpenAI does not complete the transformation within two years, investors can recover their funds plus 9% interest, totaling about $7.2 billion. The company plans to buy back employee stock after becoming profitable, and employees want to complete the transformation as soon as possible.
