The three major U.S. stock indexes closed lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average setting the longest losing streak since 1978

According to TechFlow, U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. on December 18, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 267.58 points, or 0.61%, to 43,449.90.

The Nasdaq fell 64.83 points, or 0.32%, to 20,109.06; the S&P 500 fell 23.47 points, or 0.39%, to 6,050.61.

As of Tuesday's close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell for the ninth consecutive trading day, setting a record for its longest losing streak since 1978.
