According to TechFlow, on December 17, Decrypt quoted (The International) as saying that a 39-year-old suspect was arrested in Milan with the assistance of Europol.

The suspect was involved in a new type of "scam" in which victims exchange cryptocurrency for counterfeit banknotes. Vienna police called it "Rip-Deal 2.0."

The suspect was in possession of 200,000 euros in counterfeit banknotes. The director of the Vienna police station said that these crimes are usually committed by gangs in the Western Balkans.

Detective Mario Kaintz said the gang's fraudulent methods were sophisticated, sometimes using cameras to spy on victims' mobile phone screens.
