According to Cointelegraph, OpenAI apologized to its 200 million active users for the outage of ChatGPT after its integration with Apple's latest software update.

OpenAI confirmed in a post on X on December 12 that it had identified the issue and was working on a fix. At the time of publication, ChatGPT had been restored online in Australia.

The outage occurred on the same day that ChatGPT was integrated into Apple's Siri. OpenAI has not confirmed whether the outage is directly related to the Apple integration.

Many users received the message 'ChatGPT is currently unavailable' when trying to access ChatGPT's API. OpenAI stated that the traffic for ChatGPT and Sora has mostly been restored.

According to Downdetector data, outage reports began on December 11 at 11:07 PM UTC and peaked 30 minutes later.

This is the fourth outage for ChatGPT since June. Meanwhile, Meta's Facebook and Instagram users also experienced outages, and Meta reported that 99% of the issues have been resolved.
