According to ChainCatcher, Isaac Boltansky, head of policy research at BTIG, said that the U.S. SEC is about to undergo personnel changes, and Paul Atkins may replace Gary Gensler for a five-year term.
Isaac Boltansky warned that despite the SEC’s personnel changes, there will still be “jurisdictional battles” in the future, with the SEC and CFTC sometimes at odds over cryptocurrency regulation.
The question of whether cryptocurrencies should be classified as securities is still in the courts and beyond the jurisdiction of federal regulators, and the next Congress may provide more clarity on stablecoins.
